The 2020 Kentucky high school football season is right around the corner, and Southern Kentucky Preps — powered by Ken Waddell – Realtor, RE/MAX — is gearing up for the start of the campaign by previewing each of the 12 teams in its coverage area.

One team will be previewed each day from Aug. 31-Sept. 11. Yesterday, we took a look at Bowling Green. Today, we break down South Warren.

Preview: South Warren will be the area’s — and one of the state’s — most experienced teams this season. Although the Spartans graduated a handful of players that did big things for them a year ago, they return a boatload of talent — including junior quarterback Caden Veltkamp, running back Kobe Martin and senior wide receiver/defensive back Jantzen Dunn, who’s committed to Ohio State, among many others. South Warren — led by seventh-year head coach Brandon Smith — is coming off a 10-win campaign and is set on capturing its first Class 5A state title since 2018. The Spartans’ schedule is highlighted by games against Louisville Central, Bowling Green and North Hardin, but also includes meetings with Glasgow and Logan County and makes for an intriguing slate.
