South Warren won 14 games in Year 1 under veteran coach Blane Embry, and the team is looking to take the next step forward this season.
Entering the 2019-20 campaign, the Spartans have their sights set on making a trip to E.A. Diddle Arena in March for the Region 4 Tournament. With a roster that includes much experience and talent, the squad has what it takes to accomplish that goal.
South graduated standout guard Tyler Martin, fellow guards Gavin Spurrier and Cameron Harrison and forward Mason Day, but return a strong core in guards Jace Carver and Tayshaun Jones and forwards Caden Veltkamp and Parker Stobaugh, among others.
Coach Blane Embry:
“I like this team. We have several guys back who saw varsity minutes last year that have worked extremely hard on their strength and game during the offseason. We have good team speed and have been fostering that style of up-tempo offense and defense throughout the offseason. Our goals are to compete every single day in practice and games and improve as the season progresses. We hope to play at Diddle in March.”
