The Kentucky high school football postseason has arrived.
Let’s take a look at a few of the top opening-round playoff games to see around the Bowling Green area and check out the complete schedule for Friday night.
Game of the Week: Warren East (4-6) at Allen County-Scottsville (4-6), Class 4A playoffs, 7 p.m., Patriot Stadium
Allen County-Scottsville and Warren East will meet for the second time in four weeks as the Patriots welcome the Raiders to Patriot Stadium for an opening-round Class 4A playoff matchup.
The Patriots, who defeated the Raiders 27-10 back on Oct. 18 in Scottsville, are riding a three-game win streak after defeating Monroe County 49-32 last Friday to close out the regular season. Warren East suffered a heartbreaking 28-27 loss at Daviess County in its regular-season finale and has dropped three straight.
The Raiders lead the all-time series 23-17 over ACS dating back to 1974.
Madisonville-North Hopkins (8-2) at Logan County (8-2), Class 4A playoffs, 7:30 p.m., Cougar Stadium
Logan County and Madisonville-North Hopkins played a highly competitive contest in their regular-season meeting back on Sept. 27, and the two sides are set to square off yet again in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Cougars, who used a last-second Hail Mary to defeat the Maroons in a 26-24 thriller, are coming off a 53-6 loss at South Warren last Friday. Quarterback Tyler Ezell suffered a left leg injury late in the second quarter of that contest and missed the entire second half, and his status has not been updated for this week.
Madisonville-North Hopkins suffered a 53-50 heartbreaking defeat at home against Mayfield in its regular-season finale. The Maroons racked up 537 total yards of offense as running back Jeriah Hightower led the way with 190 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.
Greenwood (5-5) at South Warren (9-1), Class 5A playoffs, 7 p.m., Spartan Stadium
A pair of county programs will square off for the second time in four weeks as South Warren hosts Greenwood in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs.
The Spartans recorded a 36-18 win over the Gators back on Oct. 18, but Greenwood held a 9-8 lead at halftime. South Warren defeated Logan County 53-6 last Friday in its regular-season finale, while the Gators lost 14-6 at John Hardin last week.
South Warren leads the all-time series 6-1 over Greenwood dating back to 2013.
