Taking a look at the Week 10 area football schedule

It’s Week 10 of the Kentucky high school football season. Let’s take a look at a few of the top games to see around the Bowling Green area and check out the complete schedule for Friday night.

Game of the Week: Bowling Green (5-2 overall, 2-0 Class 5A, District 2) at Greenwood (5-3 overall, 1-1 Class 5A, District 2), 7 p.m. Friday, “The Swamp”

Bowling Green has owned the all-time series against Greenwood – and the Purples will look to continue to do so Friday night as the Gators welcome them into “The Swamp” for a Class 5A, District 2 contest.

The Purples, who are 28-0 all-time against the Gators dating back to their first meeting in 1991, are coming off a 49-0 home win over Christian County last week. Quarterback Conner Cooper threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in the victory.

Greenwood dropped a 36-18 decision to South Warren last Friday. The Gators held a 9-8 lead at halftime, but the visiting Spartans controlled the second half to deal the home club a loss. Quarterback John Morrison, running back Reed Slone and defensive lineman Jonathan Gornik each scored TDs in the setback.

Warren East (4-4 overall, 2-1 Class 4A, District 2) at Franklin-Simpson (4-4 overall, 3-0 Class 4A, District 2), 7 p.m. Friday, Shadetree Stadium

Franklin-Simpson will host longtime opponent Warren East on Friday night in a Class 4A, District 2 matchup at Shadetree Stadium.

The Wildcats defeated Warren Central 56-0 last week and are riding a four-game win streak. Running back Tedric Partinger rushed for two touchdowns, while Malik Carter had a TD run and an interception return for a score in the win.

The Raiders had their three-game win streak snapped last Friday as they fell 27-10 to Allen County-Scottsville at Jim Ross Field. East quarterback Nolan Ford was held to just one total TD and threw two interceptions in the loss. Wide receiver Logan Sanders caught Ford’s lone TD pass.

Franklin-Simpson leads the all-time series 33-7 dating back to 1975 and has won the past six meetings.

Russell County (5-3 overall, 1-2 Class 4A, District 2) at Allen County-Scottsville (2-6 overall, 2-1 Class 4A, District 2), 7 p.m. Friday, Patriot Stadium

Allen County-Scottsville welcomes Russell County into Patriot Stadium on Friday night for a Class 4A, District 2 contest in the two sides’ first meeting since 2010.

The Patriots and Lakers, who haven’t played one another since Nov. 12, 2010 in the region semifinals, renew their series after both recording wins last week. ACS won 27-10 at Warren East, while Russell County picked up a 50-14 victory at Butler County.

Trace McIntrye (2), Jax Cooper, Brandon Baxter, Landon Witcher and Will Moore all scored TDs for the Patriots. Dylan Bland ran for 209 yards and two TDs to lead the Lakers.
